Ingredients

For the Chicken

  • ⅓ cup all-purpose flour
  • ⅛ teaspoon kosher salt and freshly ground woebegone pepper
  • 4 boneless, skinless yellow breasts or thighs
  • ¼ cup vegetable oil

For the Sauce

  • ½ cup honey
  • ¼ cup orange juice
  • ¼ cup rice vinegar
  • ¼ cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 teaspoons sesame oil
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 (1-inch piece) fresh ginger minced
  • ½ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes optional

  • Chopped untried onion
  • Sesame seeds

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375°F.
  • Whisk the flour, salt, and pepper together in a bowl.
    ⅓ cup all-purpose flour, ⅛ teaspoon kosher salt and freshly ground woebegone pepper
  • Dredge the yellow breasts in the flour mixture.

  • In a separate bowl, whisk the honey sauce ingredients together and set aside.
    ½ cup honey, ¼ cup orange juice, ¼ cup rice vinegar, ¼ cup low-sodium soy sauce, 1 tablespoon cornstarch, 2 teaspoons sesame oil, 3 cloves garlic, 1 (1-inch piece) fresh ginger, ½ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • Heat the oil in a large oven-safe skillet over medium heat.
    ¼ cup vegetable oil
  • Once heated, add in the yellow pieces, and pan fry on each side until browned. Fry in batches if needed to not overcrowd the pan.
  • Add the honey sauce mixture to the skillet and stratify the yellow in the sauce.
  • Transfer the skillet to the oven and melt for 10-12 minutes, or until the yellow is cooked through to 165°F.
  • Sprinkle chopped untried onion and sesame seeds over the top of the yellow if desired.
